Early PBP ("Poch") Luke Bespin with Pink Hands Empty Early PBP ("Poch") Luke Bespin with Pink Hands

About a year ago I received a Luke Bespin figure from Spain. It is the figure which you see in the middle.

Left: Early PBP (Poch). Middle: Figure from Spain. Right: Late PBP.

Paint wise the figure matches the early PBP ("Poch") Luke Bespin on the left: ginger brown hair, spray mask used for applying the belt and saber.
There are also differences: The colour of the boots is different: brown vs caramel. But the Poch Luke Bespin can come with different boot colours. Right Alex?

Most striking is that the hand paint of the middle figure is different compared to the Poch Luke Bespin on the left: pink vs pale painted. I have just checked about 15 Kenner Luke Bespin figures in my collection and none of them has this bright pink paint on the hands. So it is safe to say it is not a Kenner paint apps.
Interestingly a similar pink was used for the hands of the late PBP Luke Bespin (at the right).
Also other PBP figures like Luke X-Wing, Luke Farmboy, Han Solo etc. used a similar type of pink pant. See the pic below.

Pink hands of the Luke Bespin figure being discussed (at the far left) compared to pink hands on late PBP figures.

The unique pink paint on the Luke Bespin figure which is non existant for Kenner figures, combined with some factory defects (melt marks on the back) and the Spanish origin of the figure, are all strongly suggesting to me that the middle figure is a PBP product as well.
Maybe this figure was produced during a short time just prior to the start of the late PBP era, explaining why a similar (same?) type of pink was used?

What are your thoughts on this figure, guys? I am curious to know.
And can you please share pics of this Luke Bespin when you have it in your collection?

Thanks in advance for your input!

Cheers,
Marco

NOTE: I already got my asnwer from Javier’s excellent PBP book, just prior to posting this. Indeed the early PBP Luke Bespin can be found with both pale and pink hands.  cheers
Still it is cool to discuss whether this is the same or just a similar type of pink used for the later PBP figures. And of course please share pics of your early PBP (Poch) Luke Bespin variant with pink hands..

great thread Marco funny I have had some questions on the pink used as well .
heres some pics of my 2 poch luke bespins first 2 from left to right then my two pbp examples (the purple was drawn on by a child )
yrs ago this leia with extreme pink hands was sold to me as a rare Spanish variant pictured with my poch pale hands leia .it came from a very reliable source and a known variant collector and was quite expensive
, now I know poch variants have pale hands but this was sold to me as poch as well ... hmmm ? any thoughts as this pink is actually quite unique and id really like to know if she is poch / pbp or if any other Spanish collector owns her .

Early PBP ("Poch") Luke Bespin with Pink Hands Empty Re: Early PBP ("Poch") Luke Bespin with Pink Hands

Totally missed this thread, sorry.

This is actually the figure that I first brought to the attention of the collecting world.
I recieved my first ever figure from Kenneth and this was it. Back then it was considered 'mixed up' as it had pink hands. The assumption back then was that it had painted arms from Kenner.
When I recieved the figure the hands were the least of my concern, it was the boots which struck me. Caramel! Which did not exist on any Kenner figure and nit on this COO. The caramel perfectly matched the PBP blonde figure.
It was at this point I paid more attention to the hands which also matched the blobde PBP figure. At this point it was clear that this was not mixed up but actually a Poch/PBP variant.
I then explained this to Javi and Kenneth.
This figure is confirmed on the 37C card and is actually also the one found on Sergios recent aquistion Very Happy
Interestingly the blonde caramel boots PBP figure is also confirmed on this card making this a very interesting figure in regard to the change from imported figure parts to actual production.

The caramel boots can also be found on this figure with white hands, assumably the step before this figure.

Early PBP ("Poch") Luke Bespin with Pink Hands Empty Re: Early PBP ("Poch") Luke Bespin with Pink Hands

Hey Marco really informative thread.

I was looking at my PBP Luke XWPs the other day and noticed that one of them has pink hands. I have about 10 loose Luke XWPs, three baggies and 5 or 6 carded and this guy is the only one with pink hands.

So should I assume this a late PBP figure then? How about the PBP with a pink face? Same production period?

Thanks!
