What should we do with Toy Tonis? Empty What should we do with Toy Tonis?

Post by ChristianC Wed Oct 11, 2017 9:33 am

This debate has been going on for a few years now but it has really blown up on FB the past week after the Jabba group decided to officially allowed TTs to be sold there (although they definitely were not the first).

I'm of the opinion that we should not sell them, even with full disclosure, as we cannot control what the buyer will do with them. Sure we can educate ourselves about how to identify one, but what about the new collector? Or someone buying one for a friend? Or a collector who isn't really part of the social networking community and doesn't know what the hell a TT is? This is actually the same reason I'm also against reseals (although to a lesser extent).

That said, I'm not at the point where I'm calling for a ban, because I think we are still learning how to deal with these and I can see the argument from both sides. I do think we should mark them somehow but no idea what the best method is.

What do you dudes think?

I gotta agree with that, might be a step on the right direction if a grading company would just seal it with a label saying “Toy Toni Unofficial Production” or something, it doesn’t even need a grade.

Right after I picked up a Palitoy 65 Fett someone told me it might be a Toni and I was like “Whaaaaaa?”, according to Mr Palitoy, Toni never had that card back, but apparently a handful of people remember Toni selling a few 65 back Palitoy Fett’s, but I guess he was buying stuff to flip as well.

I’m pretty sure you can see 45 back Toni Fett’s for sale by DVT all the time. Pretty dark, seems like they’re full price too.

I agree with that Clint, they are original components but were not assembled in the factory, were some of the figures touched up as well scratch

One issue is, I think that only a fraction of the TT's out there, are known to be TT's.

Maybe for all the MOC's that aren't in acrylic cases. A small sticker with TT on it, is stuck to the side of the bubble? If they are in acrylic cases, the small sticker can be stuck to a side corner of the case?

The only problem with a sticker is that it could be removed. Any marking would need to be permanent, and I can't see people wanting to deface the card. Perhaps a small pin hole made in the bottom of the bubbles could be an option for loose examples, as this wouldn't really affect the asthetic look? Graded examples could have TT scrathed into the bottom of the case?

The main problem that I see is that whatever system is adopted / accepted by the majority, there will always be people who won't comply in order to recoup lost investment or dupe unsuspecting buyers.

Steve, It's definitely a real dilemma. I was trying to think of something that wouldn't mark the card back or the bubbles. Because they are both still original items. scratch

UV marker pens could be an option, but I presume that with the right solvent the ink could be removed?

All those ideas are great but yeah so far I haven't heard any idea in almost four years that is infallible. Graded cases can be broken open. Stickers can be removed, permanent markers ruin the card, invisible ink can only be seen if you are looking for it etc. I have two myself and I'm getting to the point where I'd rather ruin the card a bit with a permanent marker or scratch something into the bubble. . That said, even that could probably be covered up with old shop stickers or something. I love Fucking Toni.....

Right bastards! cheeky  You're all gonna want me to climb back in my hole soon haha cheeky  But I'm not!!!! At Least not until I've got the place to my self... you know, when Michael Bubble has fucked off out of it to release another dog shit Christmas hit! cheeky

I've milled over most of the ideas of what to do with these wasted pieces of real estate gold that Toy Twat Toni must kick himself everyday about... Karma I guess and to be brutally honest there is only one thing that you can do here..... EDUCATE yourself.

If you haven't heard of Toy Toni by now you have been living in a hole..... with Michael cheeky

If I was to buy a DT Saber.... which I'm not because they cost more than perfectly affordable sex dungeon stuff, but if I was or if I ran out of space in my sex dungeon and was feeling stupidly reckless with money then I would make sure it came from a massively guaranteed source, I wouldn't just pull the trigger on the first piece of shit I saw on ebay. Same with buying an MOC, the only reason I would do that is I was interested in the hobby and if I was interested in the hobby then I would want to make sure it was real...

You can argue that new collectors might not know so get burned, unlucky for them, in time they will know, and they'll realise they got burned as did thousands of old time collectors before the scandal broke. The point is that now we know and the information is out there. If you buy a Ferrari, aside from being a cunt, you would not do it from some back street wheeler dealer, you go to a designated dealer.

If you google fake Star Wars toys, you'll stumble on it somewhere.

My point here in some way is that, a whole generation of old school collectors got burned by TT's, Two highly reputable grading companies...... hang on a second, did I just put that in a sentance?? and I'm not even drunk?? How ever I did get wasted on booze and cocaine till 5 in the morning so I'm not a 100% I guess. Anyway, 2 grading companies also got burned (unfortunately not to the ground cheeky  )
So I guess people always will get burned but the only difference between the old school folk getting burned and the new school folk is that EVERY THING you need to know is out there now, soooooo EDUCATE yourself, it's the only true way.

If it makes you feel any better as a 'burn' victim should you be one, someone else also got burned, he burned him self, Yep, Toni, imagine the value of your unused stock if you left it as unused haha cheeky

What was there again, let's have a look What a Face
