[snippet  SNIPPET-NAME="NOTE"]This Kenner figure (produced in Asian factories) shares the same mould family, and is predecessor to the later produced PBP figures (made in Spain).
This Kenner figure shares the same features as its PBP counterpart, like the tilting head and larger feet, as well as a very similar spray mask, for the chest paint application.

More information on the PBP Darth Vader figure can be found here:

[snippet  SNIPPET-NAME="NOTE"]This Kenner produced figure (made in Asian factories) is the same mould family and predecessor to the later produced Lili Ledy figures, sharing the same sculpt features as the Ledy figure.
For example the pointed thumb on the left hand, as well as the unique spacing on the right hand, between the ribbing of the glove and the thumb (see circled detail).
The main differences between the Kenner and Ledy figures, are that the Ledy figure has a uniquely sculpted head, with softer sculpted features and larger mouth ball points. These unique Ledy characteristics are most likely the result of wear to the mould, by the time it reached Mexico, or due to re tooling / clean up of the mould, by Lili Ledy.
Other Ledy differences include different chest paint applications to its Kenner predecessor, as well as different plastics used for the injection process, resulting in a slightly different texture and colour.

More information on the Lili Ledy Vader figure can be found here:

[snippet  SNIPPET-NAME="Head variations"]the MITW figure is well known for having lager mouth ball points, making it quite easy to distinguish from other Vader figures.
But actually there are four variations of the mouth ball point sculpt. The larger mouth ball points are most likely due to wear / damage to the the mould over time, or due to retooling or cleaning of the mould at some point in  production, resulting in the four varying stages that can be seen in the picture below.

Starting top left, working clockwise:
Large mouth ball points, Medium mouth ball points, Small mouth ball points (earliest produced figure?), Small mouth ball points but with a dimple cheek (mould damage, which may have lead to the resulting, later produced, larger mouth ball points?)[/snippet]

[600][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][/600]

[snippet  SNIPPET-NAME="NOTE"]Another interesting, unique mould defect to the MITW figure, is the lump on the right toe. This is not present on all MITW figures, as it is most like a defect in only one of the leg cavities within the mould, so perhaps one in four examples carry this defect?[/snippet]

[snippet  SNIPPET-NAME="Weapons & Accessories"]The Saber and cape for the MITW Vader are unique variants to this figure[/snippet]
[snippet  SNIPPET-NAME="NOTE"]the saber is a lighter orange and is very flexible compared to a kenner saber. The tip transition point is uniquely more graduated on the Taiwan sabers and a circular epm mark is present on the hilt. Excess flashing can often be seen on the end of the hilt also.

The cape is thinner than most kenner capes and has square cut corners, it has a slightly rough texture and does not make a zipping sound like most Kenner capes.
There are actually three known cape variations for the Taiwan figures, which include a smooth cape, a slightly textured cape (pictured below) and a roguse or leather texture cape. The latter cape is very rare and is thought only to be found with the Taiwan only coo figure.[/snippet]

[snippet  SNIPPET-NAME="NOTE"]As this figure shares all of the same mould family characteristics of family 8 'MITW' including the large mouth ball points, excess flashing and the same toe defect. I am inclined to believe that this should in fact be the same mould family category as 8, rather than having a mould family allocation of its own.
It is my opinion that this Tiawan only coo was the original coo for family 8.
At some point during early production, for whatever reason, they retooled the coo stamp to 'Made In Taiwan'. But this is something that can be discussed in the figure discussion thread.  [/snippet]
