Disco boot/high heel DSC's

Post by Kenneth_B on Thu Nov 03, 2016 9:12 am

No great weather for pics but so happy to finally have my MIHK DSC back home again. Smile Thanks so much again Javier Ruilópez for doing the restoration job with the head. Smile

To me this is one of the rarest moulding pair/hardest to find Kenner licensed variants in existance - both probably of about equal rarity. The Poch/PBP EBS 45 back in the pics is with 99,9 % certainty the card, where my MIHK DSC in the pics origins from.

If the no coo (PBP)? DSC found in Spain on more than 5 occasions also was avaliable on this card, I have no proof. Given the fact though that there is no such thing as a PBP El Retorno Del Jedi 65 back DSC, it would be tempting to conclude, this would be the case but again - it's only guess work at the end of the day. Smile The no coo "melted down" coo is not a normal coo found on PBP figures, but it should though be noted, that the confirmed PBP Han Solo Original (tex mex kind of face) has the same type of no coo melted down and not scarred).

The two DSC figures and the cardback are in many ways among the best items in my collection despite the far from mint condition (especially on the MIHK dude).

PS: The figures are virtually identical except for the shiny black versus greyish-black dull paint on the boots.

PPS: As for Spanish ESB 45 backs these can contain everything from Kenner import to continued Poch "overstock" figures to PBP figures. Therefore we can in no possible way conclude, that the MIHK disco boot is a PBP -  or Poch figure for that matter just because of appearing on a Poch (PBP) 45 cardback. Quite a few of these have been found in UK too (both no coo and MIHK) plus a single sample in France (my own no coo DSC originally found by Rog). Hopefully the future will bring us more evidence upon where these disco boot DSC's were produced, and what cardbacks they were avaliable on. Just the fact that the MIHK DSC with great certainty can be linked to the Spanish ESB 45 back is, to me, a very siginficant piece of information. cheers

Both Death Star Commanders are fantastic figures. Congrats, Kenneth! clapping clapping
Thank you for sharing and providing your insights on these rare figures! Very Happy

Both figures have that typical PBP smell?
If so I would bet these are PBP productions.

I did indeed Clint, and Eddie and I have also discussed these variants through PMs in Facebook some months ago, all though I would much prefer doing it face to face over a pint. cheers

Thanks my friend. Very Happy

Wish I could say for sure about these two awesome but also "odd" variants. I do indeed believe, that at least the no coo "disco boots" DSC is a PBP release - in that connection it's great to have a moc sample (37/41 back C as far as I recall) of the Han Solo original with the tex mex face, which is a unique paint scheme for the PBP release, because it has as a similar (no) cooas the assumed no coo PBP DSC. So at least we can conclude, that PBP did use this type of coo... The number of no coo DSC samples found in Spain as well as the strong plastic smell in most of these are very good/promising PBP signs too.
