Re: What comics are you reading?
I have loads of old comics with SW advertisements in them, both Marvel and DC. Unfortunately I don't remember which ones though! I'll check through some of my Supermans and see if I can find anymore.
Re: What comics are you reading?
Posted this photo on my blog a couple of years ago but the photo is pretty crap. This is one of the more common ads I think.

Re: What comics are you reading?
My son has a number of cheap 70's and 80's comics lying around in his room, from when he was superhero crazy as a 6 year old (modern comics tend to be too violent for his age group). I'll add that to the list of things I am hoping to get to sooner than later.

Re: What comics are you reading?
That looks like an interesting series.
There is a lot of comic book stores in the area. I'll have to see if any of them carry the series.

Re: What comics are you reading?
Mate I can give you issues 2 until 6 but the first one is signed by the author so I am going to hang onto it. You'll just have to grab the first issue.
Re: What comics are you reading?
Thanks for the offer. If you have a complete series, I would hang on to them. They will be worth more later, as a complete series. I was just looking at the link you posted & I can just order digital copies on-line, so I don't have to leave my chair.

Used to love the Freak Brothers when I was kid! The Stand is great, much better than the mini-series. Haven't read the book though.
Re: What comics are you reading?
Just read "Aliens Apocalypse: The Destroying Angels", its a 4 or 5 issue tpb from the late 90's, describing a much better version of what would eventually become Prometheus.

Haven't read these but might give them a whirl one day. The Prometheus story had so much promise....

You can get it all in one TBP and I really advise it. The story parallels to Prometheus are uncanny yet I've never heard it referenced as a source material. It's really a much more interesting variation on the events and exploring the original derelict ship.
Naturally it's been out of print for years but I got it on amazon.
Re: What comics are you reading?
As usual I'm reading loads of comics but this one really stood out recently. Really cool. The premise is that only black people have superpowers.

Re: What comics are you reading?
Seems cool, love the cover art, especially the choppers. Just reading that article though, I feel like I'm checking out before I even read it. They should hook me with a cool concept and then sneak in their social agenda rather than selling it based on the social agenda.
Like the movie "Aliens" lol fantastic effects and monster designs, cool scifi plotline. Watch the whole thing, and you may fee a little differently about events like the Vietnam War. Though, if the synopsis compared fighting the aliens to the Viet Cong it would be a bit awkward, let me see if I feel differently about an issue because of the good writing in a project. The subtext shouldn't come first lol obviously their cause is a good one but it's a bit SJW manifesto rather than a selling synopsis.

Re: What comics are you reading?
You make a good point, and generally you don't want social agendas shoved down your throat, but I'm really down with what the guys are trying to do with this comic (not just with the story) so I guess I'm cool with it. Comics are so completely dominated by white dudes that it is ridiculous. But I get what you are saying. I'm actually writing a comic series myself and I have a very strong political message but my editor has warned me not to smash people over the head with it. That said, when I read "Black" it didn't feel that way at all and it's a great story no matter what your politics are.

From Rob Zombie?
Hell, aside from Walking Dead, I don't follow the medium, but this is intriguing. Does it have a similar vibe as Zombie's movies, Andy?

Re: What comics are you reading?
Yes mate, all the usual gore you would expect from Rob Zombie Not the best artwork in the world but not bad either It's a series of four comics but I picked up the first as I was curious about the Rob Zombie input and I liked the cover It will go in a frame on the wall once I've read itIan_C wrote:Nico wrote:Picked up a new comic book today

Re: What comics are you reading?
I'm reading a lot of comics at the moment but this mini-series really stood out. From Batman writer Scott Snyder. It's basically half comic panels/half novel type prose. Very interesting.

This series is brilliant, especially with all the fascism going on right now. Really raw and dirty.
