Show me your Gimcrack
Hi there all. Its Pete from the Vintage Rebellion Podcast.
I'm after submissions for this months gimcracker
All I'm after is an item you have seen, or bought, that surfaced over the last month that falls into the reasonably undefined category of 'gimcrack'. Something that isn't the usual figure, cardback, ship, kinda thing. We'll discuss it on the podcast (or you can Skype with me and put the case over) and I'll award my favourite a lovely badge (which I am still making but its coming, honest!!!).
Last month the winner was a Princess Kneesa care bag. Yes.. thats gimcrack.

on board Pete. I'm surprised that you weren't already signed up. I'm also really glad you started this thread here. That way, I don't have to create a facebook account.
I've only gotten a few new gimcrack pieces in the last few months. But I can't really say that they are "undefined". They are mostly Canadian items. The French ESB storybook that is printed in France, may also be the one distributed in our French speaking province of Quebec. I've seen one for sale recently from Quebec, that has the same "printed in France" stamp in the back of it. But still needs to be verified.
The French ESB storybook.

Where can we see all the entries? I looked at TVR facebook page and didn't see anything?
Jez, did you find that lampshade from your childhood, because that might win?

Re: Show me your Gimcrack
Pete, I moved this thread to the main discussion area. It deserves more attention.
Here is a neat little piece that I picked up a few weeks ago.
French Canadian Cobot pin back button / badge.

Not vintage, but vintagesque. Some nice hand made cork drink coasters.
The coasters work great.

Re: Show me your Gimcrack
Lads, this is strong in the gimcrack this month... very strong.
I'm trying to think the direction of the gimcrack. It should be stuff that doesn't have to be licensed, much like Jez's winner. It just felt right.. it was gimcrack. But effort went in,,,,
Beer mats always good.. means beer was nearby.. and beer = good times.
I'm sure I had a keyring like that.. maybe not Star Wars, might have been a trip to a museum but same style with pictures, and I loved flicking through.
Coke button, love that and press kits.. wow!

Picked this bad boy up at a shop on Venice Beach last week, I doubt its very old, but it sure is some unlicenced nonsense. Welded together with nuts, bolts, and odd parts, this R2 has a secret compartment and could probably kill someone if thrown with skill.

Chris, that's a fantastic piece. I love the spark plugs built into the arms, and the bearing at the bottom of the torso.

Lol that’s exciting to know that there is already a couple strong entries. It’s a shame one of you didn’t get that 3PO rug
Re: Show me your Gimcrack
I think stu may very well have gone for it if we had seen the revised price earlier. I wonder if he had a sudden upsurge in interest after the podcast..
