2020 Quarantine "Oddball/Beyond The Toys" Showcase
2020 Quarantine Oddball / Beyond The Toys Showcase
I was cleaning the collection room (during the great Corona Virus Quarantine of 2020) and I had an idea for a new thread. I want to see your absolute favorite non-Kenner vintage Star Wars pieces! I'll start us off, but I know you guys have some remarkable pieces so let's see 'em! Show me some stuff I'm totally ignorant about! I know you've got these things!
Here are some of my favorite oddball items from my collection:
1. 1983 "Editions Heritage" Marvel Star Wars #1 - Picked this up myself in Quebec along with the other 10 issues. This series is probably my favorite Vintage Star Wars Canadian paper item, as far as regional variants of this comic go, this one is one of the most visually distinct.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
2. Grubee's CocaCola Cup - This Winnipeg restaurant exclusive cup was picked up by a friend who noticed it in a local classified add from it's city of origin. There is also a second cup in the series featuring Vader. The art is the same as that used for the Canadian CocaCola bottle cap promotion.

3. Helix Death Star Pencil Sharpener - I obtained this well-known piece right here on the forum, trading firstjedi an Amanaman for it. Awesome trade!
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
4. Star Tours Bumper Sticker - Picked this up at a local toy show, just a weird, fun piece with great graphics.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
5. Canadian Atari 2600 Star Wars Arcade - This complete version of the 2600 game really appeals to me because of the uniquely styled Star Wars logo on the front of the box. It's probably the worst version of this game.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
6. Unused Stock Pencil Toppers - These were part of a well-documented find of hundreds of unused pieces. This fact highlights the sloppy initial paint details. Fun designs clearly based on the figures.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
7. Canadian Puffy Stickers Quasi-Prototype Packaging - The back of this sticker pack has a placeholder bar code which says that its a place holder for the final design. Scott Bradley informed me that it might have been part of a 3-pack which had exterior packaging so this bar code wouldn't be an issue.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
8. Canadian Presto Magix - Not much to say here, decent examples featuring the Canadian law compliant insert on the back.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Let's see some cool stuff!!

Awesome idea Chris. That's all really great stuff.

So many items to choose from. I'm not sure where to start.
Some Canadian unlicensed pin back buttons. The Laval University science festival button, French Canadian Cobot button, & the CHOZ FM radio button.

Canadian Norben Halloween masks.

Awesome stuff, Clint! That Laval University button is amazing! What a great score.
I posted your FunMeal boxes on our social media channels and that's what got me thinking about this.

Great idea for a thread, I have a pile of return of the jedi comics produced in the uk for the third movie, all with different storylines
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
This is another annual I picked up, can't remember if this is any different than the previous one its in storage

There's so many oddballs I love that I'll just have to make several posts during isolation
The HC Ford pencil toppers Chris showed above are definitely among my favorites
Here's my collection pic of all the different basic characters available …

Great items, guys!
James, I had no idea there was a "correctly" coloured Chief Chirpa from the HC Ford Pencil toppers lol by the looks of your run there, it must be the least common.
+10,000 for that AT-AT model, that is so awesome!
Here's one more from me, Panasonic Product Catalogue from the Lucas campaign from the late 80's.

Re: 2020 Quarantine "Oddball/Beyond The Toys" Showcase
James. I love the Cobot stuff. Well done my friend.
Dave, that's a great bunch of stuff. Love the Ontario Place Cinesphere ticket stub. My family would journey into the city when I was a kid, and go to Ontario Place every summer. That brings back memories.
How come your childhood R2 cardback was a Palitoy?
A couple more of my favourite items.
The Canadian Coca Cola Match and Win Contest stuff that I have.
[400][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][/400]
A few partial strips of uncut SW stickers, and a partial piece of uncut OPC SW cards.

Hey Clint love the iconic images of your uncut cards/stickers.
My family did a trip to England one year and I was lucky to get the helix pencil sharpener ( for Chris) but also got the Palitoy R2-D2.

Re: 2020 Quarantine "Oddball/Beyond The Toys" Showcase
Some epic Canadian cereal premium paper there! I'd love to make some more progress on those French/English stickers from '77, found the Jawa at the second last toy show I wen't to for $5.
Since I posted this over on FB where Clint has been crowd sourcing some information about what Canadian Colouring and Activity Books were actually available in Canada, here's my Editions Heritage, French Activity book, printed in Quebec:
Like many of these items, this belongs in that column of "really damn rare but other than Duncan Jenkins, 4 or 5 other people care".
