Re: my modern collection so far
I hear hallmark had a pannel on the collecting stage this week. I must admit I'm a bit curious.
Also, you inspired me to weather a "hero series" millennium falcon and wall mount it lol I'm most satisfied with the results

Re: my modern collection so far
Sounds good, would love to see it!
Here's a small piece I've just put together, a signed trading card by Ralph McQuarrie, got the card in a trade and was trying to figure out how to display it.
I opted for a small shadowbox with a figure of ralph next to the card, it was signed later in life when he was suffering with parkinsons so its just his initials, but I'm pleased to have it, if George is the father of star wars, then Ralph is the grandfather, I don't think that's overstating it

Also just got this figure in, from ebay, love this line, and the clamshell packaging sets it off well, I cleaned of the sticker residue with some wd40, after this photo

Haven't posted in a while, I see I need to reupload my pics, bloomin photobucket!
Heres an interesting figure I just bought, the figure is a run of the mill luke x wing, but the rear is an invitation to a press preview of the dvd
The seller thinks there were only around 200 of these made, so its pretty rare, it has an ugly crease running through it but apart from that I like the card

Ian, that's an interesting piece. Was there any indication, who the invitee was?

Very cool. If it was limited to 200 I'm sure the name of the invitee would ring a bell.
Re: my modern collection so far
Great piece Ian.
I've not seen or heard of that promo cardback before. Do you know whether there is a US version?

Hey guys, glad you like it, all it said on the listing was that he was told around 200 had been produced, that's all I know
I just thought it was an interesting piece, glad to have it in the collection

That's cool Andy, they started scraping the bottom of the barrel at the end with this one, not based on ralphs work like the others were, but I like it anyway, Christmas and star wars, great combo!

Also picked up this talking luke x wing, one of the Disney store ones, around ten inches tall, has a great likeness for a mass produced toy, as luke x wing is my favourite figure, i'm glad to have this for the collection

Wow, I've never really taken a good look at that speeder bike driver before. Serious police shades (which ended up on the biker scout I guess)! It's easy to picture him in a McQuarrie Image.
I love that POTF2 expanded universe sub line, I've got all the single carded figures, certainly the most interesting stuff to come out of that period IMO

Re: my modern collection so far
I agree Chris, i'm glad they tackled the concept line, very interesting, plus the other expanded universe stuff that they did, I was never a fan of the super buff figures, glad they tackled something a bit different

Re: my modern collection so far
Just won this, its a vintage diecast snowspeeder, but its been given a modern paintjob, so thought it best belonged over here, I just thought it was cool, completely repainted even the little figures, best part is it was only 4.20! started at 99 pence, threw a cheeky five pound bid on it and its mine
