Re: Unpainted Droids ... Are they Prototypes ???
apparantly theres a way you can tell if a dsd has coloured plastic limbs by looking at some sculpting detail. i read this on fb comment. i reckon he was joking! was he?

Here's a link to the auction ...
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Can you do a screen shot of it and add it to the thread Clint ?
I don't know how
I think the seller actually deserves some kudos for honestly describing what it is and selling it for a fairly reasonable price
Hopefully our article has educated at least a couple collectors

I paid 20 for the black and green one . he has another for sale for 45$ which is way too much .
maybe 20 was too much but I didn't care and feel it was worth it as from what I was gathering the more common is the plain beige . next up a red one !!! i'll be searching .
on a side note its funny how this hobby is bbecause i'm sitting here thinking how cool it would be if I could strip one of every figure to find killer colors and start a new collection ...
nah foreign variants are pricey enough

Re: Unpainted Droids ... Are they Prototypes ???
From the pics you posted of your Horror posters Bill I can tell your smart phone actually takes pretty good photos
There are 2 very basic things you can do to improve the pics of your figures .
Use a solid color background (grey like we use if you can get it) and place your figures at least 6 inches or so away from the background when photographing them .
This will allow your camera to focus only on the figures - the way you have other stuff in the back ground makes your camera fight itself to decide what to focus on and results in slightly blurry pics .
Its amazing how much detail can be brought out with photoshop (change lighting etc) but the one thing it can't do is make a out of focus figure sharper .
Try a solid color background and you'll be surprised at the improvement

not as funky as i thought but still really interesting to see the different colored plastics used
one is a removable limbs 1982 which is a mixture of brown, burgundy and bronze/copper.
one is a fixed limb 1977
* only knackered droids were used where i could see colour coming through easily through the chrome from wear and tear of play. its really hard to spot potential different colored limbs
