Re: Horrible Customs by ourchickenshack
3 or 4 years ago my wife's sister gave us a antique hi chair that she thought we could use in our Halloween display . It would have been great as a prop but I decided it was too nice and had too much potential . I decided to strip it down and refinish it so that we could give it to whichever of our 2 nephews had a baby first .
I forgot to take a pic before I stripped it down but this is what it looked like after 3 or 4 coats of old paint was removed :

I also completely disassembled it and re glued all the joints to make it nice and solid .
Here it is after being refinished :

It has a old school removable porcelain tray .
Here it is with seat cushions Julie made for it :

We finally gave it to the winners last weekend

That's fantastic. You have some skill, my friend.
I hope they enjoy it. And then l pass it down, for many years to come.

Our other nephew and wife told us about 2 months ago that they are expecting now too . We found a old rocking chair at a thrift store for $5 that I am going to refinish for them

Okay , it's a little late but I didn't get the inspiration to start it until a couple days before Christmas
The question is …

I added the hat , boots and modified his bandolier strap and pouch all with milliput . I also bent the arm so he can hold a accessory but haven't made my mind up yet on what the accessory will be - the leading contender in my warped brain is a Combcaster

That's fantastic. I think a Combcaster would be an awesome accessory.
I love the waffle patterns you incorporated into the putty.

This is some fine work! Great job touching up the eyes after the white paint job, they look perfect!

The eyes were the only part I didn't paint - I just panted right up to them and left the slight brown outline

Nice work, painting around them surely requires just about the same level of precision.

Think I may add some hoses to the back of the helmet and I still need to clear coat it .

That's fantastic.
This one & BoShek are 2, that I have to try and make some time. I have all the parts, including 2 of the helmets you had for BoShek.

I was working on a Bo Shek too

I came up with a better way to do the helmets …

That looks fantastic. Love how you molded the collar to fit with the helmet.
What arms and boots did you use? They look familiar?
