Thanks James.
When I fix the sticker, I'll re-post a picture. It's easy to make the droids, when you aren't hunting for parts & beaters all the time.
I'm still using up a few left over "sub standard" parts from the past celebration droids.

Re: Commander Clint's customs
Great job on the new one, and it had been a while since I last saw that R2-X2.... magnificent.
Re: Commander Clint's customs
I was in the local factory outlet/ fabric shop picking up some velcro for my mother.

And I spotted this piece of fabric. It got me thinking of a custom figure that I saw in a FB group. I bought a piece & might try making my own version of it.

Looking foreward to seeing what you come up with Clint
Are you going to make a pair of shorts for Chicago with the fabric you have left over

It's going to be a surprise.
Andy, that's a great idea. I'll make a pair of shorts for Christian.

Re: Commander Clint's customs
I've been slowly remaking my astromech droid molds over the last few months, in between other projects. I finally got around to testing the last couple of molds the other night.
Because I'm tired and stressed from work. I thought it would be good to take my mind off of things for a few hours.

Then I decided to test the liquid chrome marker on the new parts. The domes are primed and ready for the chrome.

The first coat of chome looks good, but needed a 2nd coat.

I thought I would try a couple really easy R2 units. The Green R2 Unit from the Rebel briefing room & a Yellow, Orange & Red R2 Units from the Hoth hanger.

I ran into a small snag when I touched the chrome while wearing a pair of latex gloves. The chrome doesn't like to be handled. I was installing the dome onto the torso. It loses its shine and becomes matted. After a bit of research on-line. There is a clear coat that is compatible with the chrome paint. I ordered a small bottle, but it won't be here for a few weeks. So these will have to sit for a while, until the clear coat arrives. I might have to remake the Green dome, if I can't salvage it. I also have to adjust the orange colour on the sticker to match the orange paint.

Very nice moulds there Clint, the droids look very cool, i have not tried the chrome before, but I've heard it takes a couple of weeks to dry thoroughly, good luck with the project

Thanks Ian.
I'm just started trying out the chrome. I also read that "Alclad II Aqua Gloss ALC600" clear coat works well with the chrome and doesn't dull the finish.
I ordered some last night. When it get here, I'll test it out and let everyone know if it works as good as they say.

Thanks Andy. It's been quite a process and learning curve, in order to produce parts with little to no air bubbles. Also with little to no trimming the flashing, air vents & pour spouts.

Thanks James. The chrome had been drying for a full 24 hrs before I touched it, in order to install the dome. The pictures don't pick up the matted finish where my fingers where holding the dome.
I'll let you guys know if that clear coat works to keep the chrome finish nice and shiny.

Re: Commander Clint's customs
The clear coat arrived in the mail yesterday. It recommends an air brush to apply it. I tested it out last night with a very soft brush and it seemed to work great. I tested it on the dome with the green paint. Seeing that I already ruined the finish on the chrome in spots were my fingers touched it. It's been drying for at least 15 hrs now. I can touch the chrome without damaging the finish.
Chris, the markers are from Germany, I think. But they were shipped out of the UK, when I ordered them thru Amazon.

Thanks David.
I won't keep anyone waiting any longer. I reworked the yellow domed droid to be more screen accurate. The web site that I use for reference doesn't know if the legs and body are black or blue accents. So I went with a designers choice.

Wow outstanding work Clint, these are amazing!!
You must have a very steady hand, to get the paint detailing so precise.
The red one is my favourite [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Thanks Chris. I have to use a little alcohol or a little bit of pot edibles to help steady my hand.
