Very elaborate!
I just took in a semi homeless 7" Oscar into my 90usg tank. I'll take some nice pics on a weekend that I'm not in the spice mines lol
He's beautiful, I assume the previous unqualified owner did no reasearch and it just got too big for them. Arguably they shouldn't even be on the market, I doubt there are many 75 gallon plus tanks out there.

Well my Bristlenose Plecos have had a large batch of babies
They have bred at least 3 or 4 times before but I never saw more then 3 babies at once and they never survived . This time I have been able to count at least 15 babies at once and , as hard as it is to spot them , I imagine there's more . They seem to be doing well so far
Here's a pic of mommy with one of her babes near her :

I haven't hardly bought any fish for several years because my swordtails are very prolific and I constantly have a steady supply of their babies ...

Re: Meet The Pets : Tell Us About Your Four Legged Friends : )
Congratulations with the new batch of Ancistrus James. When I used to breed them I would provide a 6" piece of 2" diameter pipe for them to spawn in (as you may have observed the eggs are guarded & cleaned by the male) and stimulate breeding by carrying out several large water changes over a week or so in order to change the water chemistry and lower the water temperature (replicating the changes that occur in the wild during the rainy season).
Algae wafers (with spirulina), blanched spinach & marrowfat peas are all good food sources for the fry. I hope that they all do well.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] James I should have mentioned it above, but if you try marrowfat peas, remove the skins first.

Great Job with the baby Plecos James, I tried to raise some Red Severum a couple years ago but they only lasted 2 weeks, they're so sensitive I can't be sure what went wrong. The level of attention I paid them was driving my girlfriend up the wall, and that was just 2 weeks.
The Oscar is still doing good. Here he is making a mess with some Mysis cubes just now:

I'd like to get him on something less messy but hes never accepted pellets since I've had him.
I've also got these Amano shrimp in a fluval flora tank which is (hopefully still) in a perfect state of equilibrium. Using only sunlight from the window, this little group of shimp and plants have been living for almost 3 years. The plants really don't grow but they still look green and clean. I say hopefully as I've moved it to a new spot last week, still on a window on the same side of the building but not quite as exposed. I've been supplementing the light slightly.

Hi, new on here and reading some old threads.
Just flicking through this one and found your post.
What a great looking dog, with an even better name, couldn't have been more apt.
Just showed my wife, now she wants one...you may have started something here!

Thanks Steve , I definitely need all the advice I can get
The only thing I do is play some Barry White in the background , otherwise I don't do anything on purpose to get my plecos or swordtails to breed - they do it all on their own
I have been feeding them algae wafers and the guy at my local fish store recommended French cut green beans .

They seem to be growing and doing well - there are probably more but I have definitely counted at least 18 at one time

Will you keep them all or is that too many when they grow

I'm always happy to help James and I'm glad to see that they are doing well. I see that you have some albino's amongst the brood, while not my favourite you may find them easier to sell.
I've probably mentioned it before, but for a number of years I was a professional aquarist, working with everything from sharks to tiny mosquito fish, so if you ever have any questions on the subject, shoot me a pm as I like to keep my hand in.

Hopefully this won't upset anyone, but I've just taken a couple of snaps of my Taiwanese beauty snake feeding on pre-killed mice. I acquired this snake recently, he's currently 4 feet long and will grow to around 7-8 feet.

Thanks Andy. I'm currently feeding him once a week with 3 adult mice. By the time he's fully grown he should be taking small rats.

I'll take most , if not all , to our local pet store . Once they grow up , combined with all the other fish I have , there will be too many for my little 55 gallon aquarium .
It is fun watching them grow though

Re: Meet The Pets : Tell Us About Your Four Legged Friends : )
Very cool, back when I was in high school (and slightly more insensitive) we used to post YouTube videos of live feedings to a blood python. They would get a couple hundred thousand views before getting flagged and removed. Not sure I would do that now, but the reality is: the snake exists, and that's how it eats. Life eats life.
